Dairy farmers in Nyamira County are set to receive training on how to improve yields in a programme that will be rolled out in all constituencies.

Speaking on Monday, Nyamira County Secretary Erick Onchana confirmed that the one month long exercise will see experts from the Republic of Netherlands work with local agricultural experts to make the campaign successful.

He said the programme is a relieve for dairy farmers, and urged them to turn out in large numbers at the designated centres, to receive training on how to improve their yields.

“I want to confirm that the county government has secured services from agricultural experts from Netherlands who will arrive in the country this week. They will work closely with local experts to train all dairy farmers on the new methods of improving yields,” said Onchana.

He said the team will also offer free spraying to the cattle, apart from identifying needy cases that will require urgent paddocking to increase space for farming.

“Apart from the training, the experts will also spray the farmers' cows so that they stay healthy. Some farmers will benefit from free paddocking by the county government that will see structures and shades put in their farms,” he added.
