Nyamira county Senator Okongo Mong'are has called upon Members of Parliament within the county and other counties to ensure that they use the Constituency Development Funds well and be accountable for the same.
Okongo said that the funds being allocated to the Members of Parliament should bring a developmental impact and every village should have projects that is being funded by the CDF.
“We know the amount given to the MPs is enough to develop the constituency and there is need for them to ensure that they develop it to the maximum because the money is for the public because they all pay tax,” he said.
“We have only been hearing of governors being told to be accountable yet not a single Kenyan has ever queried the way the CDF money is being used," he said.
He urged the constituents to reprimand those MPs who do not account for the millions of shillings they receive and further demand in equal measure to be involved before any project is undertaken.
The senator was speaking at Nyamira town where he was addressing a group of youths.
