A section of Nyamira residents has expressed their dissatisfaction with the way the county government is spending public funds.

This is after it emerged that Sh2.8 million was spent in buying water, sodas and milk for the employees in the county headquarter offices.

The residents called on the Governor John Nyagarama to ensure that public resources are spent on development projects for the county.

Nyagarama appeared before a Senate committee for questioning on how the county government expenditure where the revelations were made.

The residents also said that they support the Senate committee on the recommendation that the Members of County Assembly return the Sh1 million they were given as rent for their houses.

“This is a lot of money considering that the people in mashinani still need services and it should be returned to the county and used for the right purpose not milk and sodas,” said one of the residents.

They said that they elected the governor to take care of their resources noting that the MCAs are also supposed to work for the people and play their oversight role.
