Barely a week after First Lady Margret Kenyatta donated a mobile clinic to Nyamira county, chief health officer has come with a routine that will be adhered to by medics who will be operating it.
In an exclusive phone interview on Tuesday, Dr. Douglas Bosire said the clinic will be operating per sub-county with the medics required to attend to emergency services during weekends.
He said the routine would be effective since the county constitutes of five sub-counties and said it will bring about equity among county residents.
“First I want to thank the first lady for her humility because the clinic will be of great importance to us. I have already sat with members of medical department and agreed to deploy medics with the mobile clinic to every sub-county with each sub-county served on a separate day. And during the weekends, we will only attending to emergency cases regardless of the sub-county,” he said.
Bosire also revealed that the medics who will also be working of a duty basis will be attending to emergencies at night regardless of the sub-county a patient hails from.
“It’s a 24hrs exercise and we have also decided that we attend to emergencies at night regardless of the sub-county. Devolution is all about equity and we will not hesitate to serve our people equally,” he said.
He said the mobile clinic will be targeting patients from interior parts of the county and urged those hailing from nearby dispensaries and hospitals to make use of the health facilities around them.
“It doesn’t mean that we will serve every single case. It’s important that those hailing from areas proxy to hospitals seek serves from the health facilities rather than waiting for the new services offered in the mobile clinic,” he said.
The sub counties include Manga, Masaba, Borabu, Nyamira North and Nyamira South and will be served from Monday-Friday respectively.
