Nyamira County residents have been urged to register as voters during the month-long exercise in order to take part in next year’s elections.
County women representative Alice Chae said unless the residents heeded the call, determining how the Nyamira is managed through election of good leaders will not be possible.
“I urge to register to vote in these elections so that you can participate and have a say in how our county and country at large is managed,” the former radio journalist said.
She told Mochenwa residents that voter registration is part of ensuring that general elections are free and fair, as the law demands.
“When you think about the kind of things your vote can influence in everyday life, it is so important to register as a voter. It is vital that people vote and have their say on the issues that matter to them," she said.
The countywide exercise, scheduled to take a month, is going on in every ward and will be concluded on March 15 this year.
