Research shows that most residents in Nyamira do not know their blood sugar levels, the county director of Medical Services Douglas Bosire has said.

Bosire said Tuesday even young people are prone to high sugar levels and should be tested for the same.

He said it is good for the people to visit hospitals at any time to check their blood sugar levels and other diseases and get tips on how to live with the conditions as well as start early treatment.

“It has been noted that Nyamira residents have this problem of high blood sugar and it’s not only men who are affected but even children. Many people do not know whether they have the problem of high blood sugar or not because they have not been tested for the same,” he said.

He said that the county government in collaboration with Kenyatta National Hospital will roll out free treatment to the residents at Nyamira Primary School grounds as part of the celebrations to mark the World Diabetes Day on Saturday.

He said the exercise will start on Friday.

He called on residents to turn out in large numbers noting that it will be the biggest medical camp in the county.
