Women in Nyamira County have been urged to register with the Maendeleo ya Wanawake Organization to improve their lives.
The women have been told joining the group will help in fight against poverty.
Mrs Mary Orwenyo, the organisation's chair in the county said women in the county were strong enough when it comes to working and that they would be far much better in terms of standards of living if they came together and worked as a team.
She said that Nyamira County has so far registered up to two hundred women and the registration exercise is still ongoing.
She called on women to register so that they can be able to form self-help groups to enable them get income to run their businesses.
“We have skilled women who are strong and can work very well,” she said.
The deputy chair of the organisation also added that they have been facing small challenges which they want to get rid of, noting that the major challenge they face is lack of finances to satisfy the needs in the community.
They called on various stakeholders to come out and sponsor the organisation in their quest to better their lives, saying that they will hold a fundraiser at Nyamira Primary School on November 6 as they seek to start a savings and credit cooperative society.
