Youth in Nyamira have been challenged to acquire skills and venture into various rising opportunities in the county to tackle rising unemployment.

Addressing a group of youths in Kebirigo on Sunday evening, Nyamira County CS for gender, youth, sports, culture and social services Joseph Ogwara said the county has many youths who has skills and who have learned but only focuses in getting employment instead of creating their own jobs.

Mr Ogwara added that the rate of unemployment in various parts of the country is worrying and youths should not fully depend on government to secure employment but instead start up their business which will eventually grow to a big territory.

He urged youths to ensure that they form youth groups that will ensure they secure loans from either the national or county government respectively.

The CS said the county government of Nyamira has already set aside funds for youth regular training that will sharpen their entrepreneurial ideas and ensure that all youths in Nyamira are well advised when they want to start businesses.

He called upon youths to stop any kind of drug abuse so that they can remain productive all the time.
