Nyamira County government has been lauded for initiating construction of a major feeder road from Nyandoche Ibere to Nyansiongo trading center which is majorly used by dairy farmers.

The county government through area MCA Jackson Mogusu on Tuesday launched the construction following mounting pressure from the locals.

Speaking during the event, Mogusu said the road will improve the economy of the region since farmers will be able to access milk points to sell their products with ease.

“I want to thank the county government for its support in improving this road. To be honest, most dairy farmers hail from the region and for a long time, my leadership has faced a major rebellion from them due to delayed construction. I am now optimistic that they will be able to access milk points easily,” he said.

He challenged the contractors to not only expedite the construction but also ensure they do quality work for durability purposes.

“It’s important for the contractor to ensure that the work is finished in time so that normalcy in business will resume in this region,” Mogusu added.

Residents led by Bartholomew Abuga said the construction was welcome and urged the county to respond in time whenever there are calls for services by the locals.

“The main purpose of devolution was to bring services closer to people. When we call for service delivery, it doesn’t mean we are opposing the government. This project is welcome and I want to thank the county leadership on behalf of all of us,” he said.
