Fifty youths from Nyansiongo township ward have a reason to smile after a Borabu politician issued a Sh200,000 cheque for their education in technical institutes.

The politician said the sponsorship program dubbed ‘youth for tomorrow’ is set to extend to other regions across Borabu. It is aimed at equipping youths with technical skills that will enable them sustain themselves economically.

Speaking at Nyansiongo township hall during the launch of the program on Thursday, Mr Dancliff Mbura urged youths who fail to secure enrolment to institutions of higher learning to embrace technical courses to gain knowledge that could help them face the harsh economic reality.

“For a long time our youths haven’t taken seriously the contribution of technical colleges. It is not a must that you join a university or a tertiary college. If you don’t get that chance, it’s also appropriate to go for technical courses. They enable youths to acquire essential technical skills that could help them earn a little,” he said.

Mbura challenged parents to form educational groups that could help them educate their young ones instead of depending on help from outside.

“When your child doesn’t score good grades it doesn’t mean that it’s the end of the world. Village polytechnics are at the doorsteps and they are offering technical courses. Let us form groups that can allow us to contribute towards educating our children rather than waiting for help from outside,” he said.
