Kisii Senator Chris Obure has urged members of parliament from Kisii and Nyamira counties to join in asking the national government to fulfill pledges made to Gusii region residents.
Obure said the government promised to do more development in Gusii region but nothing has been done so far, prompting him to call upon MPs to ask the government to fulfill the pledges.
Addressing journalists on Monday in Kisii town, Obure said many of businessmen in Kisii face difficulties when transporting their goods to various markets due to impassable roads.
He said the government promised to tarmac Mogonga-Kenyenya-Kamagambo Road but nothing has been done.
He said Bomachoge Borabu and South Mugirango residents have been waiting for the construction of the road for along time.
“The government put aside some money to tarmac Mogonga–Kenyenya–Kamagambo Road and contractors signed to work but the government came in and stopped the construction of the road , we don’t know where the money went, up to this moment it has never been constructed,” he said.
He added: "MPs in Kisii and Nyamira counties should come together and ask the government to do development in Kisii according to the pledges."
