The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has dismissed reports that it has lifted the suspension of two top Kisumu County Assembly leaders.
The Orange party said the report which ran on one of the vernacular radio stations, was erroneous as it claimed that the ODM secretary general had lifted the suspensions of Samuel Ong’ow and John Sumba Olum as Majority Leader and Deputy Majority Leader in the Kisumu County Assembly who were dropped for alleged gross misconduct.
In a press statement sent to newsrooms, the ODM Director of communications Phil Etale termed the report erroneous, misleading and unsubstantiated.
Etale said the matter regarding the two members is with the party’s National Disciplinary Committee (NDC) which will have the final say once their investigations into the conduct of the two are completed.
"Until then, the Secretary-General and the Executive Director of ODM have no intentions whatsoever to interfere with the work of the Disciplinary Committee which works independently," said Etale.
The two were suspended following an incident at the assembly in April where Deputy Speaker Pamela Jossy was injured as she tried to chair assembly sessions forcing the party to crack the whip on those who were allegedly involved.
