A Nyamira MP has accused the EACC of showing bias in the fight against graft in the country.
While questing the independence of the commission, Kitutu Masaba MP Tomothy Bosire claimed that officials of the constitutional body were working under orders from higher authorities to clear influential people accused of corruption.
Mr Bosire said he was considering introducing a debate in the national assembly to disband the commission, if its officials fail to explain the circumstances under which former Devolution cabinet secretary was cleared of corruption allegations in the National Youth Service (NYS).
“Kenyans are not blind and we are seeing the game being played by EACC,” the MP said.
About Sh791 million was lost through questions payments. Some officials have been charged in court in connection with the loss, but Waiguru has been cleared by EACC of any wrongdoing in the saga.
“The commission has lost focus and it's working under orders from certain individuals. They hastily cleared Waiguru and this shows why I am ready to file a disbandment motion,” he added.
The ODM MP alleged that powerful government officials were using the body to clear some state officers accused of stealing public resources.
