Rivals Orange Democratic groups in the recently conclude party grassroots primaries seized a funeral ceremony in Borabu to settle their political scores.

The grassroots elections in which West Mugirango MP Dr James Gesami had been declared winner were nullified by the party’s election board and slatted to be repeated early next year following claims that the winning camp had engaged in malpractices.

The opposing team that supported former North Mugirango MP Joseph Kiangoi lauded the decision by the party’s electoral body to call for a re-run while Gesami’s camp revealed that they would not participate in any poll till top governing council of the party intervened.

“ODM is a democratic party and we cannot allow people who believe in rigging to tarnish the image of the party. As Kiangois’ team we are very happy that the electoral body of the party has nullified the results because our opponents used unscrupulous methods including conspiring with poll clerks to rig us out,” said North Mugirango Youth League Chair Willy Omandi.

However, the move was opposed by Borabu constituency ODM Youth league chair Mr Moseti Bwongeri who challenged party’s top organ to intervene and solve the matter before it escalated.

“I was one of the delegates and we voted peacefully and elected the Nyamira county ODM boss. It’s time that Kiangoi’s camp concedes defeat because we cannot allow a repeat of the polls. It’s time for National Governing Council of the party to intervene and solve the matter before it becomes a disaster,” he said.
