An official from Kisumu County's Children's department has called on owners of cyber cafes to monitor the activities of minors who go to cyber cafes.
Monica Achiego said many minors use cyber cafes to access explicit material.
Achiengo told cyber cafe owners to help parents fight immorality.
"Majority of parents currently have control over what their children access online and they cannot access pornographic materials at home. They therefore turn to cyber cafes. I call on all cyber cafes to monitor these kids as if they are on their own," she said.
She urged cyber cafes not to be driven by greed for money at the expense of promoting good morals in the society.
"We have learnt minors go to cyber in the guise of playing games, but after a while they start accessing explicit material. It would be appropriate to supervise these youngsters all the time they are in the cyber."
She added that good morals should be instilled in children at a tender age for them to have a better future and it should be the responsibility of all adults to realise this course.
She was speaking in Kisumu on Sunday during a children play day organised by local business owners.
