The Kibera MP, Ken Okoth has vowed to support every talent in Kibera for the development of the slum.
Okoth, on his Facebook page announced his decision saying great leaders do small things in a great way. Supporting youth talent development in Kibera is part of his agenda. Kibera has produced many celebrities talented in different fields from soccer, comedy and TV personalities.
The move to support talents has seen the Kibera constituency come up with events to support talents. For example, the Kibera music festival which is held once a year. Also, the schools which are talented in different sections be it sports or music and drama and perform to national level are awarded by the Mp
Many youths in Kibera use their talents for financial gain. Ignatius Kobo, one of the youths, said he uses his talent not just to entertain people but to earn a living. Kobo who is a choreographer said he charges per hour and it depends with where he is performing.
''The area MP has really done a lot to boost talents and I wish to personally thank him. It is one way of investing. Talent is your job, your rent and your food,'' said Kobo.
