Kisumu West MP Aluoch Olago has told off Kisumu County Ford Kenya officials over claims he is not cooperating with the Ford Kenya office.

Mr Olago accused the officials of seeking undue attention and taking advantage of their offices to frustrate members.

On Tuesday, a meeting convened by Nyanza Regional Party Coordinator Felix Minda in Kisumu resolved that the county officials be given powers to vet candidates before being issued with certificates in the 2017 elections.

The officials argued that MPs and MCAs from the region elected on Ford Kenya tickets were not cooperative with the county offices, a situation which has seen the leaders champion the agenda of other parties.

“We have had issues with a lot of these leaders who do not want to listen to county officials. We have been communicating to them but they do not change, particularly Aluoch Olago of Kisumu West Constituency,” said Minda.

Minda said the county officials will not allow ‘nomination rejects’ from other parties to carry Ford Kenya flags in the 2017 general election, hence those thinking of using the party to clinch elective positions have to join the party now or never.

Olago however defended himself against the allegations and instead accused the officials of using unprocedural ways of handling issues facing the party.

“I cannot worship those party leaders whether they are at the county or constituency level. I have been working with the party and even the national officials have been contacting me quite often and we get involved in party activities,” said Olago in a telephone interview on Friday.

He added: “If the county officials have issues with particular members, then there are ways of solving them and not calling some unprecedented meetings.”
