The judiciary has been urged to ensure justice is expedited by concluding cases filed several years ago.
Speaking on Sunday during his second day tour in Kisii County, Dr Otiende Amollo said his office was receiving several complaints on stalled cases and urged Chief Justice Willy Mutunga to address the issue urgently to the sake of justice.
Dr Amollo said dragging of the cases in court was making many Kenyans lose trust in the judicial system, which Dr Mutunga had restored.
“Easy access to justice is a dream for all Kenyans. However, I am really touched by hundreds of complaints my office receives on daily basis. I want to urge the Chief Justice to talk to his colleagues in the judiciary to solve the pertinent issues to avoid a possible loss of trust in the judiciary by Kenyans,” he said.
The chairperson of the Commission on Administrative Justice urged Kenyans to report such cases (delayed justice) to his office so that he can seek redress from relevant judiciary offices.
“It’s your right to launch the complaints in my office so that I will seek answers from concerned offices. Whether poor or rich, we are all equal before the law and we should be treated equally when seeking justice,” he said.
He said his office was committed in ensuring equity in administration of justice and urged his colleagues to serve Kenyans equally regardless of their social status.
“I am happy to say that my office has been working well with people and it’s upon you to visit our offices across the country to report issues pertaining delay of justice,” he said.
