Kisii Governor James Ongwae has warned health workers against laxity and reporting late to work.

Mr Ongwae, who visited Marani health centre on Sunday, said his government had invested immensely in the health sector and ruled out any reason for underperforming of the health centers.

He said the public needed quality services and warned lazy health officials of a possible sack if residents continued to report complaints about their mundane execution of their duties.

“My government has diverted moist resources to the health sector because a healthy county means prosperity in development. As government, we also expect quality services to our people so you have to report early to your work stations or face a sack. You have a responsibility of delivering to our people,” he told health workers.

Ongwae also warned medics who are in charge of various hospitals within the county against drug smuggling saying his government will not hesitate to take stiff actions against suspects.

“The drugs we purchase are for members of public. I am aware that a number of doctors won private clinics but we will not accept any attempts of smuggling drugs meant for the public. Public property must be respected and as government, we will not hesitate to crack a whip on such errant medics,” he added.

He urged the health workers to respect their work stations by working during the stipulated time for the sake of promoting the ideals of the county government.

“You have no reason to underperform because we have given our support. It’s important that you stay in your work stations so that we do away with persistent complaints from members of the public,” he said.
