Kisii Governor James Ongwae has had a breakfast meeting with journalists to brief them ahead of the Kisii Entrepreneurship Summit (KES).
The three-day summit, whose theme is ‘Tapping trade and investment opportunities in Kisii County’, is set to start on February 25.
Ongwae said he recognised the media’s role in providing information to the public, and was keen to partner with journalists in order to make the entrepreneurship summit a success.
“As a county, we seek to leverage on our rich agricultural potential to transform into a middle-income economy,” the governor said, adding that he will use the event to make it clear that the county government was striving to create a conducive environment to attract investment.
“The investment summit has attracted high-profile foreign and local dignitaries and will provide a networking platform to domestic, regional and international investors to negotiate joint ventures and partnership,” Ongwae told the Kisii-based journalists.
He revealed that the youth will take a centre stage in innovation and award during the summit period so that they can take advantage of the conference benefits.
He went on to invite all county residents to the event.
