Kisii Governor James Ongwae was the surprise visitor on Sunday during the finals of the Kisii town boda boda football tournament held at Gusii stadium.
The competition brought together riders from all the county’s 45 wards to form football clubs. It has helped develop talents on the field, according to officials.
The governor noted that there was an improvement in the management and organisation of boda boda groups into coherent and focused teams.
“These groups have also formed successful Saccos to promote a culture of saving and empower members,” the county boss said.
He promised to continue offering support to the boda boda groups as a way of managing substance and drug abuse and creating employment opportunities.
