Kisii Governor James Ongwae has challenged CeCs to meet maximum performance expectations or face the axe.

Speaking On Thursday at the county government offices during the signing of performance contracts of all CeCs Ongwae said they must deliver positive results improve the lives of Kisii residents.

“It was difficult for me before to sack any of my ministers because we never signed this agreement. But now you have signed today on how you are going to perform,” said Ongwae

“If you fail to deliver you will not be spared. What Kisii residents want from us is just development,” he added.

The ten CeC signed the performance contracts and the ministers pledged to abide by its spirit.

Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka had earlier on urged Ongwae not to retain underperforming CeCs saying residents would suffer due to incompetence.

Onyonka who was present at the event challenged the CeCs to go to the field to monitor projects and receive first-hand feedback from residents.

His sentiments was echoed by Nyaribari Chache MP Richard Tong'i who stressed the need for county departments to initiate development projects that reflected the needs of the people.
