Kisii County government will host a summit on entrepreneurship to identify how to deepen ties between business leaders, foundations and entrepreneurs in Kenya and other business communities around the world.

The main aim is to promote entrepreneurship in Kisii and to encourage the youth and general public to consider entrepreneurship and innovation as an alternative to employment.

The summit will create a platform that will continue celebrating entrepreneurs, creating meaningful connections, building cross-country bridges and sparking much-needed conversations that are aimed at generating sustainable investments and partnerships with the youth and the country as a whole.

Speaking on Friday in his office, Governor Ongwae said the summit would enhance service delivery to citizens and provide an enabling environment conducive for investment.

“In Kisii County, we are committed to actively pursuing interventions that will foster investment. We are keen to explore practical and realistic ways of creating value out of the abundant resources to achieve faster economic growth,” said the governor.

The high population is a source of highly skilled labour and a ready market for goods and services. The county also enjoys ample security and a peaceful community with an entrepreneurial spirit. The installation of solar-powered streetlights in Kisii town has spurred the rise of a 24-hour economy.

Governor Ongwae notes that the fact that a number of investors have already plugged into the existing investment opportunities in Kisii County goes to show that there exists an ideal investment climate.

“With our proximity to niche tourism products like Ruma National Park, Kisumu Impala Sanctuary and Maasai Mara Game Reserve and our strategic location as the South Nyanza regional economic hub, we are undoubtedly the best investment destination,” added Ongwae.

"To all partners, investors, guests welcome to Kisii County to explore, invest and prosper."
