Kisii Governor James Ongwae’s wife, Elizabeth has challenged learners to embrace a reading culture which will help them in future.

Mrs Ongwae who spoke Tuesday when she donated learning materials to five schools in Kitutu Chache North constituency, said students should take reading as a hobby.

"I urge youths to make reading a hobby for them to be creative and knowledgeable. Also, the teachers and parents should encourage students to work hard since education is the best investment," said Mrs Ongwae.

The county First Lady was accompanied by area MCA Onchong'a Maina, among other officials.

Neverthless, Mrs Ongwae urged youths to keep off drugs and other habits that can make them drop out of school.

She later donated books to Samugara, Kenyoro, Gesengero, Kioge and Omogumo primary schools.

She also presented success cards on behalf of Governor Ongwae to standard eight candidates and wished them success in their KCPE exams.
