Nyamira County Commissioner Josephine Onunga on Wednesday warned manufacturers and sellers of illicit brews against conducting the outlawed business in the name of ushering in the New Year.
Speaking in her office in Nyamira, Onunga said measures have been put in place to ensure any case arising will be dealt with according to the law.
She said the brewers are taking advantage of the festivities and breaking the law in the name of celebrations.
"I want to warn any resident who may think that the New Year celebrations is an opportunity to brew and sell the outlawed liquor, that the government is on the alert and will deal with any case that may lead to insecurity. We should usher in the New Year responsibly," she said.
Onunga further said the war against the brews is not over and urged the local administrators not to relent until it's completely wiped out.
This comes after a section of residents claimed that chiefs had been compromised by the brewers to protect them and abetting corruption.
