Orange Democratic Movement deputy party leader Wycliffe Oparanya has urged those participating in the ongoing grassroots elections to maintain peace and avoid chaos.

Speaking during the ODM officials meeting in Eldoret, the Kakamega Governor, urged those contesting for posts to stop causing chaos after feeling that they have lost.

"I urge those vying for positions in our party to maintain peace by accepting defeat and controlling their supporters,"he said.

Oparanya said they want to end the notion that ODM is a violent party by conducting their elections peacefully.

"ODM is a national party and always conducting our grassroots elections in a violent makes Kenyans to doubt us. If we can not manage our grassroots elections what about governing the country," he posed.

The governor warned those paying goons to cause chaos during elections that they will be thrown away from the party.

"As a party, we won't tolerate people with such behaviour and will show them the door," he added.
