Any resident within Nakuru is free to access any public office and give their views on anything they feel is not going on right or where they feel an improvement will increase efficiency, governor Kinuthia Mbugua has said.

Speaking in his office on Tuesday after meeting and engaging with a group consisting of members of the public, the private sector, corporate bodies, institution and county officials, he noted that the open door policy had worked in all countries with a developed economy and Nakuru was not an exception.

He cited his recently concluded visit to the People’s Republic of China as a turning point on the way he perceived leadership, saying that he had learnt many positive ideas that he was ready to implement back home for a productive and vibrant economy.

“I am encouraged by the continuous inter sector consultations because it’s the only way we as a county government can keep a pulse on our county and making positive strides in moving our development agenda forward,” he said.

Governor Mbugua urged the leaders, a majority who were CEO’s, departmental heads and academicians to work for a unified county where openness and accountability will allow free flow of goods and services to the grassroots level which was the main aim of devolution.

“Let us incorporate our personal experiences with ideas from other people we associate with on a day to day basis in making informed decisions that will make our economy thrive in the long run,” he advised.

This was a bench marking forum the governor used to share incites from the Second forum on China-African local government Cooperation, Trade and Investment promotion session he attended.
