Parents have been warned against raiding schools over poor performance ahead of the releasing of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examinations results in February.

Kisumu county director of education Sylvester Mulambe warned parents to desist from intimidating school heads over poor performance.

He threatened action against parents found culpable of such acts saying they should instead report cases of non-professional behaviour among teachers to relevant authorities for more appropriate action.

“We have heard cases of high teacher absenteeism especially in schools in rural areas within the county and we will follow up with the relevant Teacher Service Commission officials but that does not allow parents to take matters into their own hands to harass the school heads,” he said.

Recently, parents stormed Ngiti Primary School in Muhoroni sub-county demanding the transfer of teachers over what they claimed was due to poor performance in last year’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Education exams.

Earlier, the county director had reportedly dispatched a team of professionals to assess learning conditions surrounding performance in rural schools in the area but the same is yet to come out.
