Parents from Athi River Sub-County have been advised to be wise while enrolling their children to secondary schools.
Speaking to this writer in Athi River town on Saturday, the area director of education Joseph Kiema said this will ensure children do not drop out of school for lack of school fees.
"I urge parents from Athi River Sub-County to be cautiously calculative to enable their children get through their secondary education successfully," said Kiema.
Kiema said some parents usually lack advice while enrolling their children to form one thereby compromising their education.
He said such parents take their children to big schools that charge high school fee instead of enrolling them in those that they can afford.
The officer argued that the parents run out of money once they use all their savings to enroll their children in the schools and later become desperate since they cannot sustain the children in the schools.
Kiema said the parents later withdraw the children either before completing their year one education at the school or while in form two due to lack of school fees.
He advised parents from humble backgrounds to enroll their children in affordable secondary schools where they can afford school fees for their children throughout their four years course.
