Parents in Thika West Sub-County have been urged to apply for CDF bursaries for their children since it is the constitutional right for every child to get an education.

The quality assurance and standards officer for Thika West Sub-County constituency development fund Anthony Gikonyo while speaking from his office on Friday said that it was not fair when bright children were denied an opportunity because their parents did not know where to get assistance from.

"The due process for applying for a CDF bursary is very simple as bursary forms can be obtained from the chief’s office or from Sub-County education offices. Once it is filled it should be submitted to the relevant offices and feedback can be expected within a month," Gikonyo said.

Gikonyo further revealed that the only requirements that a parent should have include; a child passes their examinations and there is no means to provide the school fees needed to get a higher education and if the parent is a low income earner and is struggling with paying for the child’s fees and he or she feels they need assistance.

He also added that the forms were also available from schools adding that there were various bursaries.
