Jackline Mokua, a bookshop owner in Kibera has urged parents to buy enough textbooks for their children as this could help fight exam irregularities.

Speaking on Tuesday afternoon at DC market, Ms Mokua said parents have important roles to play when it comes to their children’s education.

“Having no reading materials makes it hard for students to prepare for examinations hence leading them to cheating in examinations,’’ said Ms Mokua.

She stated that the school will not provide all it entails for children to get all the knowledge required but with the support from parents, it will be easier to end exam cheating in final exams.

“Candidates are tempted to cheat in exams due to unpreparedness such as failing to do assignments and lack of reading materials. Let parents buy enough reading materials so that they can prepare for exams,’’ she said.

This comes days after KCSE results were released and more than 5,000 students did not receive their KCSE results because they cheated in the 2015 KCSE exams.
