Speaking in his office today, the police boss warned that parents whose children will be caught loitering in the streets will be arraigned in court to answer on behalf of their underage children.

“Pupils and students who are on holiday have embraced a tendency of loitering in towns up to late in the night. Even young girls who are more vulnerable are found in towns after 8pm,” said Ng'etich.

He explained that on Thursday night, 15 form four leavers were arrested in Kiambu Town for being drunk and disorderly and since it was too late, officers on duty had to spend the night with them at the Police Station.

He clarified that since the arrested minors cannot be charged in courts, the Administration Police officers go for their parents so that they can explain why their underage children were not under their parental care.

Ng'etich further lamented that the habit leads to bad behaviours as the boys can be tempted to engage in crimes and other societal evils like drinking alcohol while the young girls are exposed to rape.
