Not forgetting the fact that they have to raise almost double the fees which they have been paying in the previous years.

Most schools in the country, have increased their annual fees contrary to the regulations set by the Ministry of Education which had set the maximum fee payable. This has caused a public outcry and many of the affected are calling on the Jubilee government to come clean over the rising cases of schools hiking their fees far much higher from the stipulated amount.

The most popular schools are the recently elevated ones to a national status which is making dreams of most teenagers invalid due to their high cost.

One of the parents, at Kisii School, Joseph Momanyi,(not his real name), says paying almost thrice the stipulated amount has become unbearable and has been left with no other choice but to transfer his child if the government does not intervene to save them from this agony.

'' The government should come out clear over this issue because most of my fellow parents are unable to educate their children. Most schools have either doubled or tripled their school fees and you can't tell me that the government is not aware,'' said Momanyi.

Sironga Girls School, Nyamira, has also been implicated and efforts to reach the principal were futile as our calls went unanswered.

According to the Education Ministry circular, the highest set fees for a boarding Secondary is sh53, 553 but this has not been adhered to.
