Residents of Tala location in Matungulu sub-county have been warned against encouraging kids to skip school in order to help in farm activities.
Speaking during a baraza at Tala location chief Pius Nzioka said that during this harvesting season many children are seen around out of school.
He urged parents to take their children's education seriously by ensuring they are in school during school days.
Nzioka noted that parents are taking advantage when kids are sent home for fees to engage them in farm work especially now that harvesting is going on, instead of finding ways to get them back in school.
"If you can't take your kids education seriously neither will the kids, so it's important to ensure your child is in school," said Nzioka.
He said every child has a right to education and parents should play their roles in educating them contrary to that is against the law.
