Parents in Maseno have been cautioned against sending their children to pubs in order to buy them alcohol.

Karateng West assistant chief Aggrey Akoyo said some parents instead of going to bars themselves, they instead send their underage children.

He said it is a trend that needs to stop as it is exposing the minors to bad morals.

“Why can't a parent just go to the bar and buy his drink. We know the law is clear about minors and alcohol. Anybody found will be dealt with accordingly,” said Akoyo.

The administrator said it was wrong for parents to complain when their children exhibit bad morals in future yet they are the ones behind their rot.

Akoyo who was addressing a baraza in Maseno on Tuesday said if children are introduced to alcohol at a tender age, society risks raising an alcoholic generation, something that will impact negatively on the nation.

He further warned bar owners who will be found selling alcohol to minors.

“If you are found selling alcohol to an underage then say sorry to your business. There is no any other way of tackling the matter apart from revoking your licence,” said Akoyo.
