It is time Raila Odinga quit elective politics and give room for fresh blood because he has failed thrice in his bid to become President, his former aide Miguna Miguna has said.

Miguna likened  Raila's quest of becoming President to a student who was constantly repeating classes at the expense of quitting school and pursuing other things and urged the former prime minister to exit the political scene so that other young people could get a chance to also lead before Kenyans retire him permanently.

"Remember he has contested thrice and in any academic institution you know what repeating thrice implies. You either quit schooling and engage in other pursuits or risk being discontinued by the institution. The latter is likely to befall him should he insist of contesting.

He added that the recent opinion polls which showed Raila as gaining some ground at the expense of President Uhuru Kenyatta should serve as a warning to the Opposition leader, noting that during the elections he had a 43% backing.

"If at the last elections Raila had a 43% following and now he only has 28% then things are not so rosy for him. He should be worried with the whereabouts of the other 15%.

The hard hitting lawyer famed for his books " Peeling back the mask" and "Kidneys for the king" ruled out a possibility of ever working for his former master who he described as dictatorial and a political conman.

Miguna was speaking during a breakfast show in one of the national radio stations on Thursday.
