Persons living with disabilities (PLWDs) in Nakuru county will be given preferential treatment when applying for national identity cards.
Registrar of persons in Nakuru county Jenifer Mwangi said that her office will ensure that all PLWDs are given all the attention and support they need when they come to apply for ID cards.
Speaking at her office, Mrs Mwangi said that the move is to ensure that all disabled persons are not denied the opportunity to apply for the important document.
She added that disabled persons undergo a lot of challenges when seeking for services from government offices and said that her office is ready to help them overcome that.
"We are ready to assist PLWDs at any time they come here to seek for services and we are ready to even go to homes of those who cannot come here," said Mwangi.
"PLWDs should come out and apply for IDs and I want to ensure them that my office and I personally will give them all the assistance they require," she said.
