A Pole was on Friday arraigned before a Nakuru court for illegally being in the country.

Zadrozny Antoni faced a count of operating a grocery without a work permit thus violating the Citizenship and Immigration Act of 2011.

He was found by immigration officers at a retail shop in Kenlands area within Nakuru County on January 13, 2016.

Antoni also faced counts of being illegally in Kenya, without a valid travel document and failure to register as a foreign national in Kenya.

He was arrested on July 20, 2015 and granted a police cash bail of Sh5,000 pending his apprehension to court.

Represented by Ochang Ajigo, he told the court that his documents were in Nairobi, urging the court to grant him bail to enable him bring his documents.

Ochang also said that Toni is a missionary preaching the gospel in the country and he is married to a Kenyan thus he should be given the chance to do so as the country really needs the word at this moment.

Appearing before Chief Magistrate Doreen Mulekyo, Antoni pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on a surety bond of Sh100,000 with one Kenyan Citizen as surety.

He is also required to deposit his passport at the immigration offices.

The case will be heard on February 8, 2016
