Three suspects were on Friday evening arrested in Gilgil town after they robbed a businessman cash after he had just withdrawn the money from a bank.

The businessman, Mr Gilbert Maina, was in his car when four gangsters attacked him and demanded money from him. They managed to escape with unknown amount of money but members of the public apprehended them.

According to Gilgil police boss Wilson Kosgei, police managed to arrest three gangsters while one escaped. Kosgei said when the gangsters realised that they are being followed they parted ways. As one of them entered the nearest mosque, the other one was arrested when trying to board a Nuclear Sacco matatu while the third one was arrested in a nearby slum.

"When the gangsters realised they are being followed, they decided to part ways. One gangster was arrested in the mosque as he pretend to be praying the other one was arrested while trying to board a Nuclear Sacco matatu while the third one was arrested in the nearby slums," said Kosgei.

However, Kosgei noted that the escaped gangster is dangerous as he escaped with an AK47rifle with the cash they had stolen.

The police boss said police are doing everything possible to apprehend the escaped gangster. Three cases of robbery have been reported in Nakuru County in less than 48 hours.
