Residents from Kithimani in Mwala sub county on Saturday found the body of unidentified man in a river after it bursts its banks.

According to Kithimani chief Simon Katulu, the body was identified by a group of villagers who were walking along the river early morning.

They drew the body out of the river before reporting to the chief's office.

"A large crowd gathered to view the body of the deceased but no one could identify him, an indication that the body has been swept from a region far away upstream," explained chief Katulu.

Yatta OCPD Edward Kipsang later arrived at the scene in the company of several police officers.

Mr Kipsang said the body will be taken to the Machakos Level Four Hospital Mortuary.

He called on those who have lost a relative to go to the mortuary to identify the man.

Mr Kipsang however, warned the people not to ignore the advises given to them about avoiding water swollen rivers, dams and streams, as the country is recording more and more drawing case despite the many cautions passed on by leaders
