Nyanza Regional Coordinator Francis Mutie says he has recommended disciplinary action to be taken against police officers based in Isebania and Kehancha in Kuria West Sub-County.
Mutie said some officers in the sub-county are involved in criminal activities adding that the public has lost confidence in them.
He said there have been cases of insecurity in the sub-county which can be attributed to laxity by the officers who are meant to enforce law and order.
Mutie said he has visited the two areas and the tales from the public about the conduct of most of the officers are shocking.
“I have been to that area and I can report that there is serious laxity on our officers,” he said.
Speaking to the Press in Kisumu on Monday, Mutie said he has made recommendations to the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinett to take action on the officers.
He said the whole security apparatus in Kuria West Sub-County must be overhauled.
“To help the public and bring back the confidence on the force, we must overhaul the security apparatus in Kuria West,” he said.
He said some of the regular and even administration police officers in the sub-county are suspected to be criminals who should be arrested and charged in court.
Mutie said the officers have been given enough equipment and facilitation by the government to work adding that there cannot be any excuse for insecurity in the area.
