Traffic Police officers will heighten their operations along Thika Road to crack down on rogue motorists and help curb incidences of speeding, drunk-driving among other traffic offences.
The announcement by Thika sub county Traffic Base Commander William Ohuru Thursday morning comes a day after a Thika bound Kenya Mpya bus overturned near Kenyatta University Main Campus, killing three people and injuring several passengers.
The bus is reported to have been speeding when it hit another bus travelling on the same lane before overturning.
"I had warned at the beginning of this season that we won't tolerate motorists who are not ready to obey traffic rules. That stand remains and rogue motorists will start to feel the heat of our heightened operations", said Ohuru in his office.
Ohuru said police will coordinate with the neighbouring sub county traffic base commanders to ensure that rogue motorists are off the roads completely.
He also asked travelers to report reckless drivers to the police for action.
