A special team of detectives has been dispatched to investigate the murder of a University of Nairobi lecturer at his Tala home in Machakos County.
A contingent of officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and special crimes prevention unit is on the ground to help unravel the mystery behind the killing of Prof Stephen Nzuve.
Kangundo DCIO Wycliffe Sifuna on Monday led a team of about 15 officers to the late professor's home to carry out investigations into the murder.
"I am confident that within a couple of days we will be able to have made major strides towards unravelling the mystery at hand,” said Sifuna.
The officers obtained statements from Nzuve's widow, Rose Katunge, and interrogated a woman who is part of the team which provided catering services during a party held on the fateful day, hours before the incident took place.
The DCIO disclosed that his team had also successfully overseen the freezing of three accounts belonging to the late professor.
"We have closed three bank accounts belonging to the deceased so that no money is stolen from his accounts by the attackers who made away with his ATM cards during the incident,” he said.
