Police in Munanda sub-location, Nakuru have launched a manhunt for a man suspected of raping and killing a 13-year-old girl in Sidai village.
The Standard Seven girl had been sent to fetch firewood on Monday evening when she went missing.
Her parents raised alarm and neighbours started a search within bushes in the area but all ended in vain.
It is until Tuesday morning when the lifeless body of the girl was found lying coldly near a thicket in one of the roads in the area.
Area police boss Alex Ng’ang’a confirmed the incident.
Ng’ang’a said police have launched investigations and are targeting to nail a suspect of the heinous act.
"Police are following leads that may result in the arrest of the assailant," the police boss said.
Witnesses said that the body had injuries on the neck a sign she might have been strangled.
Police report indicated the girl have been raped before being killed.
