Police in Kikuyu on Sunday nabbed 120 litres of illicit liquor hidden in a house in King'eero after members of the public tipped them of the existence of ongoing illegal business.
Confirming the incident, Kikuyu OCPD Mutune Maweu said that police got the information thanks to some members of the public who were living in the neighbouring rental houses.
He said the police ambushed the one roomed house and were able to nab 120 litres of illicit brew.
The police boss also said that during the ambush, they were not able to arrest whoever was responsible for the illegal business but confirmed that they arrested the landlord of the houses for he must have known the existence of the illegal business but didn't report the matter.
Maweu said that King'eero was the most notorious area in Kikuyu sub county over brewing illicit liquor.
He said that the house is said to have been conducting the business of supplying the liquor secretly during the night and early in the morning to avoid being noticed.
"I want to thank members of the public who have strongly worked with the police to curb the existence of illicit liquor.
However I want to warn those behind these illegal business that we shall catch up with them," said Maweu.
The police boss revealed that the police had information of the owner of the brew who is also said to have been arrested earlier this year and released after paying fine.
He said the police were hunting for the woman heading the business.
