Investigation into the burning of a section of Madaraka market in Thika last month by suspected arsonists is still ongoing, Kiambu County Commissioner Mr Alex Nkoyo has said.
Addressing traders at the market on Saturday, Nkoyo said that investigators were still probing the fire that reduced property worth millions of shillings to ashes.
He assured that the perpetrators behind the fire will be brought to justice.
“Investigators are finalising their probe into the fire that razed part of this market last month and want to assure that those linked to it must be brought to book,” he said.
The county chief said that investigators are not leaving anything to chance, adding that every aspect is being investigated.
He asked traders who have information regarding the inferno to report to any police station near them.
Nkoyo however warned leaders in the area against speculating on the possible causes of the fire and allow investigators to do their work independently.
The traders alleged that county askaris watched as the fire razed down the market.
Kiambu County government has since distanced itself from claims of overseeing the unfortunate incident, saying it had nothing to do with the inferno.
