Thika OCPD Erastus Muthamia has asked people organising for public and private events within the area this festive season to liaise with the police to be provided security.

Speaking after attending a security meeting at Thika Police station yesterday, Muthamia said that security will be provided so long as organisers of the events notify the police.

He also asked organisers of such events to make sure that they get licenses to hold the events for security reasons.

He said that security has been heightened in the area and urged residents to continue with their activities as usual.

Muthamia also said that police have been deployed to all churches that will hold Christmas masses starting today and during the festive season.

He asked residents to cooperate with the police as they conduct inspections and screenings of people accessing churches, supermarkets and entertainment joints.

“We have put in place elaborate measures to provide security of faithful and all citizens wishing to attend Christmas church service across Thika,” he said.

The OCPD stated that police have been deployed in supermarkets, entertainment joints and other public places where locals are expected to spend their time during the festive season.

Muthamia assured that police will remain on alert during the festive period and urged residents to cooperate with law enforcers.

On Tuesday, while addressing journalists from his office on the security preparedness of the county during the festive season, Kiambu Commissioner Alex Nkoyo said that adequate security mechanisms have been put in place.

Nkoyo said that security officers have been deployed in all areas in Kiambu to provide security to residents.

The commissioner asked the residents to work with the police to enable them effectively curb crime.
