Uasin Gishu County residents of have been assured of the safety of the polio vaccine being administered to their children in the ongoing anti-polio campaign.
Speaking at the Eldoret immunisation station, county director of Health, Preventive and Promotive Services Dr Evans Kiprotich said the vaccine has been tested and is safe.
“The vaccine has been tested by the World Health Organisation and has met international standards and therefore is recommended for human use,” said Dr Kiprotich
The director, however, has called on all parents with children under five to ensure they get the jab.
Kiprotich pointed out that the turn up is so impressive adding the many people have heeded their call to take their children for polio vaccine.
According to the director, his department has laid out logistics to ensure all the children under five years get the vaccine, adding that there are medical staff who are moving from house to house to administer and take records.
The national government through the Ministry of Health launched the five-day campaign at the weekend.
The exercise is expected to be concluded on Wednesday.
