A section of Kiambu town residents have appealed to their leaders to shun political wrangles, embrace each other and work with the national government on development projects.

The locals said that persistent wrangles pitting some leaders have seen the county lag behind in development.

The residents on Sunday said that leaders need to put aside their political sideshows for the sake of development.

“We are worried that Kiambu is missing out on development projects because of persistent wrangles and sideshows among a section of leaders,” said Mr Stephen Kuria, a resident.

Kuria said that Kiambu being the home town of President Uhuru Kenyatta needs to lead by example.

He said that political differences among leaders will only stagnate development.

Ms Sylvia Nga’ng’a, a trader at Kiambu town, said that leaders in the county need to embrace dialogue.

She said that the standoff shown by a section of leaders does not arguer well with the people.

Speaking at State Sagana Lodge on Saturday, President Uhuru Kenyatta said that the reason why he is not frequently visiting Central Kenya is because of the political intolerance among some of their leaders.

Mr Kenyatta asked the leaders to stop selfish and individual politics and instead work together.

In Kiambu there have been political stand-off pitting some MPs with governor William Kabogo.

The MPs who have been critiques of Kabogo have several times accused him of concentrating development in one area and abandoning others claims governor Kabogo has refuted.
