Thousands of Bomachoge Chache residents converged at Misesi grounds for the annual sports and culture festival on Friday.

Both men and women participated in the event that was graced by Governor James Ongwae, his deputy Joash Maangi, area MP Simon Ogari, Members of the County Assembly and other county officials.

The teams competed in various games including wrestling, tug of war, ajua, traditional dance, traditional fire lighting and circumcision rituals in bid to promote the Omogusii culture.

Governor Ongwae said his government will facilitate the hosting of annual cultural festivals as a means of conserving cultural heritage that will attract local and foreign tourists.

He said there was need to preserve indigenous culture for the sake of the future generation.

"I was happy to watch elderly men and women compete in various sporting activities," said Ongwae.

During the event, Ongwae and Ogari were installed Abamachoge elders.
